JJIF board: Health and Safety decision
JJIF and JJIF Continental Unions being responsible to protect the health of athletes, their families and their communities, decide to postpone all events and activities initially until the end of May 2020.
Middle of May 2020 we will check again the situation with the Covid-19 virus and we will see what decisions we can make for the remaining period of 2020.
This decision was made for two reasons.
First, since the World face serious problems with the Covid-19 virus, this can spread easily between people and there is no real protection against than keeping a distance from each other and avoid traveling and be part of international (in some cases also national or regional) group of people.
For national events, we strongly advise all JJNO to be in contact with their Government and National Health Department in order to be informed and updated and avoid possible consequences.
Second, apart of that many air companies had already canceled a big number of flights between countries, which make extremely difficult to travail, many countries are asking the organizer of the event to "guaranty" that all participants come from "safe places" and/or summit a medical certificate of "non contamination" by the Covid-19 virus. Additionally for the International Ranking Events, JJIF cannot count any points if there are not equal opportunities to all athletes to participate.
At the moment we like to inform you that JJIF Paris Open and JJIF Balkan open are postponed to later this year.
For all other activities under JJIF Continental Unions and/or Regions, the JJCU will inform you on time.
Please protect your health and stay safe.
I remain with my best regards,
Panagiotis Theodoropoulos
President
